Warburtons - The Breakfast Survival Guide

According to new research mums have to juggle twice as many tasks as business owners, directors and decision makers during the breakfast rush.

The findings from family baker Warburtons, reveal that between 7:17am and 8:30am each weekday morning busy mums face a constant series of domestic tasks and chores - from tactical strategies to get their children and partners up and helping children brush their teeth and hair to orchestrating the family breakfast, getting outfits ready and managing school runs.

Warburtons are creating a Breakfast Survival Guide and are asking you to share your top breakfast tips, tricks, recipes, and photos to help make family breakfast as brilliant as possible! Warburton are also running a competition on their Facebook page where you have the chance to win a prize with your breakfast survival tip. So what are you waiting for... the competitions closes at 11.59pm on the 3rd of March.

Keep reading below to find out what my breakfast survival tips are...

We were sent an amazing Warburtons hamper full of delicious goodies to help make breakfast time brilliant! We received lots of different breads which is great as we all like different ones! We also received some rolls, crumpets (a firm favourite in our house), a packet of brioche swirls and some delicious jams and honey. A real treat!

My top 5 tips for having a brilliant hassle free breakfast are:

1) Organisation is key
Organise as much as possible the night before! This is key as I find if I'm running around in the morning I not only forget things but end up miserable.

Now when I have to get Maxx ready in the morning I sort his clothes, get his plate and cup out ready and plan what we will have for breakfast.

2) Get the kids involved
Maxx is now at the age where he wants to help do things and try to do things on his own and this includes helping with and making his breakfast. He is capable of pouring the cereal and milk in his bowl with a little prompting on when to stop! He can also spread his own toast which he thinks it is great. Although allowing him to make his own breakfast does take a little longer than me doing it it keeps him occupied and he enjoys doing it so now I just allow for an extra 5 minutes in the morning and this isn't a problem as long as I organise things the night before.

3) Make breakfast fun
Turning breakfast into fun things is another of our favourite breakfast time activities. We had a bread cutter which makes soldiers and Maxx thinks it's great. It just makes breakfast a little bit different and fun.

4) Mix it up
It's funny how we all get into a routine with breakfast and you find yourself eating the same thing day after day. This gets a bit boring after a while especially for children so mix it up. Whether it's having something completely different or just adding some fruit to your cereal it will break up the monotony.

5) Don't panic!
Okay we've all done it. The alarm didn't go off your running 10 minutes behind and can't find the shoes that were right there last night. Stop and take a deep breath these things happen occasionally.  Skip the fry up breakfast and have a quick 5 minute breakfast, toast cereal or fruit.

  2. Time is key in our house, everything has to be done in a routine manner that the kids are expecting, then hopefully they will help out.
