Where have you been Bean? The Wanderer Returns...

Yesterday was such a fantastic, emotional and exciting day all rolled into one.

You see we had some amazing news, news we had been dreaming about but had given up hope of hearing.

Our cat Bean went missing at the end of April and we were all heart broken. We printed off hundreds of leaflets and posted them through peoples doors, spoke to people in the street and put posters in local shops. We had a few people contact us saying they thought they had found Bean, sadly each time we went to where the cat had been sighted it wasn't Bean.

We had all convinced ourselves that Bean was living with another family and was being fed and looked after there, it was too upsetting to consider anything else.

Well yesterday evening we received an amazing phone call from a local vets, they had found Bean! After 5 long months of being missing our cat was coming home! They told us he was safe and well and had been found in the town centre. A lady had seen him a few nights in a row after her work and he had tried to follow her home so she had taken him to the vets. We were all ecstatic and couldn't wait to collect him. When we arrived at the vets the vet got Bean for us and we went into a room to see him, he was in fantastic condition and started purring straight away.

We asked for the details of the lady who handed him in at the vets to thank her, unfortunately they didn't have them so if you happen to read this please know that we are over the moon to have Bean back it means the world to us and we can't thank you enough!

Many of you may know we got a kitten a few months after Bean went missing called Rua well Maxx made us all laugh as when he found out Bean would be coming home he said "oh we don't need Rua any more we can have Bean back" the innocence of a child. Of course Rua is as much a part of the family as Bean and thankfully they are both getting on okay touch wood and Maxx is happily telling everyone he has two cats now!

It's hard coming to terms with the fact that he was gone for 5 months and we will never know what happened to him in that time. If someone was looking after him or if he was hunting for his meals. I guess really that doesn't matter any more what matter is that he's home and that's where he's staying.

If you're considering getting a pet please get them microchipped! Bean was microchipped as part of his vaccination process but it normally costs around £10. If we hadn't got Bean microchipped we may not have got him back, he may have went to a rescue centre and been re-homed. If your pet is chipped and they go missing you can go onto the website and change their chip details as we did with Bean. If the chip is scanned it will show that they are missing and give the owners contact details.

If you have a pet who is currently missing do everything you can to make people aware they are missing, put posters up, put posters in shops and through peoples doors and I would highly recommend sharing your pets photo on your local pet site/social media pages. One thing I have learnt from this is to never give up hope no matter how bleak the situation looks - miracles do happen!

Bean is currently settling back in and as you can see from the photos it hasn't taken him long!
